FP: Putin will never give up in Ukraine
An odd piece coming out of Democrat-aligned think tank by a former CIA officer who seems to regard Putin as a strategic genius.
The key paragraph is “There is only one viable option for ending the war in Ukraine on terms acceptable to the West and Kyiv: waiting Putin out. Under this approach, the United States would hold the line in Ukraine and maintain sanctions against Russia while minimizing the level of fighting and amount of resources expended until Putin dies or otherwise leaves office. Only then will there be a chance for a lasting peace in Ukraine.”
There is another option for ending the war: Russia’s military defeat.
Or as Reagan said in Moscow in 1988 “Here’s my strategy om the Cold War: we win, they lose.”
Of course, that would imply a change in policy from the Biden Administration limitations on Ukraine.
The Biden Administration had previously allowed nearly $2bln to expire. Continued lobbying is needed to push the Biden Administration to use all aid which was allocated by Congress.
