9/4 Ukraine News Roundup
AP: Russian missiles hit hospital and kill more than 50.
Russia continues to target civilians and launch missiles indiscriminately. The continued terror bombing across the country continues unabated.
The Economist: Biden’s restrictions on hitting Russia are hurting Ukraine.
A scathing piece criticizing the Biden administration policy about using weapons in Russia. Not only does the Administration limit Ukraine from using American weapons against Russia, it also enforced a ban on France and Britian from allowing Ukraine from using Storm Shadow/SCALP against Russia since they contain American components.
Tragically, as as the Lithuanian foreign minister, Gabrielius Landsbergis, put it following last week’s onslaught against cities in Ukraine: “Russian planes are better protected by Western guarantees than are Ukrainian civilians.”
AP: US close to agreeing on long-range missiles for Ukraine; delivery to take months
Another case of the Biden Administration supporting Ukraine, but slowly. These weapons would allow Ukraine to defend itself properly against Russian attacks. How long it will take them to arrive is unknown.
UP: Durov’s Ties to Moscow (in Ukrainian)
Ukrainska Pravda has an extended article documenting Pavel Durov ties to Moscow. The CEO of Telegram, who was arrested last week in France, for years claimed he was an exile from Russia. According to UP, Durov made 60 trips to Russia from 2014 to 2021, which explains why the Russian government was so vocally upset about the arrest.
