Trump called on Russia to stop the war or face sanctions.

Ukraine policy is still be formulated, but this is a strong first step. Trump took to Truth Social to issue a warning to Putin.

No reaction from the Russian government, but the Russian stock market declined steeply in the aftermath. 

NY Times: Trump Says Putin Is ‘Destroying Russia’

The American president made some of the most critical comments he’s ever made about Mr. Putin, declaring that the Russian leader is “destroying Russia” by waging war in Ukraine.

“He can’t be thrilled, he’s not doing so well,” Mr. Trump told reporters Monday evening, referring to Mr. Putin’s war. “Russia is bigger, they have more soldiers to lose, but that’s no way to run a country.”

Kyiv Independent: Indian banks block Russian oil payments after new US sanctions

Indian banks has begun blocking payments for Russian oil imports following the latest round of U.S. sanctions against Russia's oil industry, according to a report from Energy Intelligence, an energy information company.

India became the world's leading importer of Russian oil following the full-scale invasion of February 2022 and subsequent barrage of Western sanctions. India accounted for almost half of all Russian seaborne crude exports in 2024.

Embassy of Ukraine in Israel: Captured Russian weapons to be sent to Ukraine

On January 21, Ambassador of Ukraine to the State of Israel Yevhen Korniychuk met with Deputy Foreign Minister of the State of Israel Sharren Haskel.

During the meeting, Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Minister for her previously made proposal at Knesset - to transfer to Ukraine Russian-made weapons seized by the IDF in Lebanon or elsewhere from Israel's enemies. It was noted that this initiative would represent an important step in recognizing the common threats faced by both countries.
