Republicans Stand Up for Ukraine and Against Russia

On Palm Sunday, the Russians bombed church-goers coming out of church services, killing 34 people, including two children, and injuring an additional 117, including 15 children.

Then, on Good Friday, Russia sent another missile to Kharkiv, killing at least one person and injuring 98, including six children.

In light of these recent Russian attacks in Ukraine over the holy Christian holidays of Palm Sunday and Good Friday, many Republicans came to the defense of Ukraine and chastised Russia for its actions.

These include the following statements on X:

“Russia targeted and conducted a missile strike against families attending Palm Sunday services in Sumy. War criminal Putin and his murderers killed 32 just for going to church while Ukrainian. Putin kills Christians. He will stop when he is defeated.” – April 13, 2025, Rep. Joe Wilson, South Carolina (R)

“Putin and peace apparently do not fit in the same sentence. Russia’s barbaric Palm Sunday attack on Christian worshippers in Ukraine seems to be Putin’s answer to achieve a ceasefire and peace. My new bill to impose sanctions and secondary tariffs against Russia now has 55 cosponsors in the U.S. Senate.” – April 13, 2025, Sen. Lyndsey Graham, South Carolina (R)

“While Ukraine has accepted President Trump’s ceasefire proposal, Putin continues to show he is more interested in bloodshed than in peace. Targeting innocent civilians as they gather to worship on Palm Sunday is beyond the pale. I condemn this barbaric act in the strongest of terms and am praying for all those affected.” – April 13, 2025, Rep. Michael McCaul, Texas, (R)

“Russia’s horrific attack on Ukrainian civilians celebrating Palm Sunday – including children – is a reminder of Putin’s depravity, which the whole civilized world should condemn.” April 13, 2025, Senator Tom Cotton, Arkansas (R)

“A lot of people talk a big game about supporting Ukraine. I’m here in Kyiv, Ukraine for one-on-one meetings with President Zelensky himself to actually make it happen.” April 17, 2025, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, Pennsylvania, (R)

“Targeting civilians is a war crime, but that is nothing new for the Kremin.” – April 15,2025, Senator John Cornyn, Texas (R)

“Ukraine says Russia carries on attacks after Putin declares Easter cease-fire”. – April 19, 2025, Senator John Cornyn, Texas (R)

“It’s no surprise that Putin violated his own Easter “ceasefire” – It was another ruse from a vicious dictator meant to trick the public. There is no moral comparison between Ukraine and Russia.” – April 21, 2025, Mike Pompeo, Former Secretary of State

“An independent Ukraine is in our national security interests. If Ukraine falls to Putin, it won’t be the last. Moldova will surely follow & the Baltics will be severely threatened.” – April 21, 2025, Rep. Don Bacon, Nebraska (R)

“First, Putin sealed a “no limits” partnership with CCP dictator Xi Jinping. Next, he forged a “fiery friendship” with Kim Jong Un. This malign alliance has continued in his recent deal with the Ayatollah. Russia and Iran will help strengthen each other’s militaries giving a boost to the China-led Axis of Aggressors.” – April 22, 2025, Senator Roger Wicker, Mississippi (R)

“Putin doesn’t want peace. He’s stalled every negotiation and keeps bombing civilians.” – April 23, 2025, Senator Cassidy, Louisiana (R)

The American Ukraine PAC would like to personally thank every Republican for standing with Ukraine and condemning Russian barbarism.
